When out-of-town friends and relatives visit me in Nashville, they almost always ask where they can enjoy live music.
They certainly know about the Grand Ole Opry (as do taxi drivers and hotel desk clerks from Bogota to Reykjavik to Sydney, based on conversations I’ve had myself), so I usually don’t have to explain too much about the longest-running radio show in the world.
I don’t discourage them from the honky tonks of Lower Broadway (especially in daylight hours) or the Bluebird Cafe, although scoring a seat at the Bluebird sometimes can be tough…
