CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Nearly two decades after losing its dedicated senior center in the 2008 flood, Cedar Rapids is getting a new one.
Horizons East Central Iowa is developing the B. Young Center at its existing facility at 819 5th St. SE. The center is designed for adults 55 and older to build friendships, learn new skills and stay involved in the community.
“Those who have entered retirement, those who are 55 plus those who still want to connect and belong to our community, but really lack those designated spaces to continue making friendships, to continue making connections,” Horizons President and CEO Katie Oatsvall said.
