Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent return to the UK, mentions of the Sussexes have been appearing in some unexpected places-even on the red carpet.
On Friday, September 18, the cast of HBO’s new romantic comedy series Youth stepped out for the show’s premiere. Created by and starring Irish actress Sharon Horgan as Alex-a divorcee juggling parenting a teenage son, caring for elderly parents, and re-entering the dating scene- the event drew plenty of attention.
During the red carpet interviews, Sharon was asked if she, as an Irish woman, had any concerns about Harry, 42, and Meghan, 45, moving back to the UK amid recent controversies surrounding their children Archie and Lilibet’s school arrangements. Her response was candid and straightforward: “No, I couldn’t give a f—,” she said with a laugh.
The Sussexes have certainly faced a mixed reception since their return, which comes six years after stepping back from royal duties and relocating to Montecito, California.
Adding to the royal drama, Earl Spencer, the late Princess Diana’s brother, is making headlines with a series of explosive revelations in his forthcoming book Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, set to be released next week. Among the claims is a startling assertion that King Charles reportedly said, “we’ll forget her soon enough,” shortly after Diana’s tragic death in a 1997 car crash in Paris.
Buckingham Palace quickly responded, emphasizing that the King understands “grief can cloud reason.” Meanwhile, royal biographer Tom Bower has claimed that Harry was aware of Earl Spencer’s book prior to its publication.
Speaking on GB News with Nigel Farage, Bower suggested the Sussexes’ return to the UK might be heading toward a crisis. “They haven’t declared why they are here.
They haven’t declared how long they’ll stay,” he said. “Their objective is not to ingratiate themselves with the royal family but to cause trouble.
There is no doubt that Harry knew Spencer was going to release this book.”
When questioned about whether Harry would really want to harm his father, Bower pointed out that Harry is “desperate to return to the UK,” but only on the Sussexes’ own terms-terms that, according to Bower, are “non-negotiable.”
