North Alabama school system awards $3,000 ‘longevity supplements’ to staff

Huntsville City School teachers and staff members will see some extra money in their accounts this school year.

The district’s school board passed a “longevity supplement” at Tuesday’s board meeting. All full-time employees will receive $3,000, before taxes, in two installments. Eligible employees include certified and support staff. They may work a 9-, 10-, 11- or 12-month calendar schedule.

Part-time employees, contracted staff and hourly employees are not eligible for the payments…
