SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held the festival this afternoon at the Eastern Wharf to kickoff Hispanic Heritage Month, which began on Sept. 15.
The family-friendly event featured a variety of local Hispanic food vendors, music and live performances to commemorate the month-long festivities that honor and celebrate the culture, history and contributions of Hispanic heritage.
“We’re celebrating Hispanic Heritage with those things that actually make us what we are; food, family and fun. It’s part of our culture and that’s some of the things that we treasure,” said President of the Metro Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Alfonso Ribot. “It’s important that we celebrate because as Hispanics, we have to pat ourselves on the backs because so many things we have brought to this country, to this state, to this county and to this city and we believe that it has to be celebrated.”
