A church that grew out of Wilmington’s early Black Methodist Community now has its own historical marker.
Mount Joy United Methodist Church in Southbridge became known as “The Singing Church” after the congregation praised the laying of the cornerstone in 1889. Now, the 718th sign of the 95-year-old Delaware historical markers program tells the church’s story.
