Mass. weather: Chilly, rainy Sunday to close weekend

A dry, mild Saturday will give way to a chilly, rainy Sunday that could put a damper on outdoor plans across much of the state.

High pressure delivered bright skies and comfortable temperatures Saturday afternoon, with readings ranging from the upper 50s in the Berkshires to the upper 60s around Springfield. Conditions were expected to remain pleasant into the evening before clouds begin increasing overnight.

Temperatures will cool significantly by Sunday morning, especially in typically colder spots along the Route 495 corridor, northern Massachusetts valleys and Martha’s Vineyard, where lows could dip into the low 40s. A few sheltered locations may even flirt with the upper 30s. Boston, Providence and Hartford are expected to stay milder, with overnight temperatures mainly in the upper 40s and low 50s…
