Saturday evening update: A weak frontal boundary has settled near the region today, and it’s helping create just enough lift for some isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening. Highs were in the low to mid-90s with dewpoints hanging in the upper 60s to lower 70s, so the atmosphere has enough fuel for storms.
Most of the activity should stay scattered thanks to weak overall forcing. Severe weather isn’t a big concern, but a few storms could produce efficient downpours and some gusty winds. Localized flooding is the bigger concern.
This pattern of isolated to scattered diurnal storms continues Sunday and Monday. Coverage looks like it may increase a bit more on Tuesday as a mid-level low drifts north from the eastern Gulf and troughing approaches from the Midwest. That could bring a little more widespread rain and storms, along with the potential for heavier rainfall at times. Temperatures stay a bit above normal through this period…
