SAN ANTONIO, TX — San Antonio police have released body camera video showing a fatal officer-involved shooting that unfolded after a man allegedly ran toward an officer while holding two knives. The Aug. 16 encounter started as a domestic disturbance call and ended with the suspect being shot after he moved toward police despite repeated commands to stop.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, an officer was dispatched after a woman at the home reported that her boyfriend was hallucinating and had two knives. The video shows the officer approaching the residence before the man came up from behind the house. Police said the man appeared to be armed with a knife in each hand.
Domestic disturbance call led officers to the home
The incident began when police were sent to a residence after a woman reported concerns about her boyfriend’s behavior. She told officers the man was experiencing hallucinations and that he had two knives, giving the responding officer reason to treat the call as a potentially dangerous encounter.
