COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Fully electronic tolling could have prevented a fatal 2024 crash at the Ohio Turnpike toll plaza, the National Transportation Safety Board determined.
According to a news release this week from the NTSB, on Aug. 15, 2024, an SUV in a high-speed toll lane suddenly slowed, cutting into the path of a truck-trailer while trying to enter a low-speed manual toll booth lane on Interstate 80-90 near Swanton, west of Toledo in northwestern Ohio.
The truck hit the SUV from behind and rolled over, resulting in the death of two passengers in the SUV. They were not wearing seatbelts, the NTSB said. See the latest headlines from NBC4 in the video player above.…
