Stycos Calls on Johnson & Wales to Make Payment to Cranston for its $40 Million in Property
Cranston citywide city council candidate Steven Stycos is calling for Johnson & Wales University to make voluntary payments to the City of Cranston in lieu of taxes.
Styco is a former council member and ran for Mayor in 2020.
“Johnson & Wales University owns almost $40 million of property in Cranston,” Stycos, a Democrat, said, “yet it pays the City of Cranston nothing for fire, police and other city services. It is past time for Mayor Hopkins and the City Council to negotiate a long-term voluntary agreement with the university.”…
