Parents of Smithfield students eligible for special education services may be affected by how the district finalizes its observation policy, which committee members say must be revised to separate parental rights from rules for outside providers before a second reading and vote.
The Smithfield School Committee held a first reading Thursday, September 17, 2026 of a policy governing school observations by people outside the district.
