WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Earlier this week, an internal county memo advised that all weapons would be banned inside the Palm Beach County Governmental Center starting Monday, with visitors subject to metal detector screening at the main entrance.
Now, the county is putting that decision on hold while it seeks additional legal review to determine whether it has the authority under Florida law to impose a weapons ban throughout the facility.
County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo said in an internal letter Saturday that a legal question was raised over whether the planned Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office substation inside the building allows the county to prohibit firearms throughout the entire complex…
