AUSTIN — Texas hung onto its No. 1 ranking in The Associated Press Top 25 college football poll and earned 58 of the 69 first-place votes despite a sloppy 30-6 win over UTSA on Saturday night.
Texas A&M, meanwhile, tumbled 14 spots from No. 9 to 23rd after losing at home to unranked Kentucky. Houston dropped three spots to No. 25 after a hard-fought loss at Texas Tech, which moved up two spots to No. 11. SMU dropped to No. 22 after the Mustangs’ loss to Louisville.
