The Lafayette City Council last week voted unanimously to adopt a new land use code, though council members also agreed the code shouldn’t go into effect until February, leaving time for more amendments to be made to the document.
A yearslong effort to rewrite the city’s land use code has culminated in the over-400 page document that outlines fresh development regulations and zoning districts in Lafayette. The city’s land use code was last overhauled in 1986.
The City Council approved a version of the code on Aug. 18, with a list of amendments for city staff to apply before its second reading. Some of those amendments were included in the version of the code the council approved last week, but staff said other changes will need more time…
