Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson has directed that all Washington state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in memory of former 21st District state legislator Mike Cooper, who died Aug. 20.
Other government entities, individuals and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition, Ferguson said.
Cooper served in the Washington State Legislature and on the Snohomish County Council. He was appointed mayor by the Edmonds City Council in summer 2010 after the resignation of then-Mayor Gary Haakenson.
