Portland Fire & Rescue crews freed a patient trapped inside a vehicle after a multiple-car crash on SE Flavel Street in Southeast Portland early Sunday, September 20, 2026. An ambulance was at the scene to take the patient to a local hospital for treatment, the department reported in an incident update.

The rescue comes amid previously documented safety concerns near SE Flavel Street and SE 72nd Avenue.
