Tropical Storm Fay is weakening in the Atlantic. As of 11 a.m. Monday, it was producing sustained winds of 50 mph. The storm is moving to south at 5 mph.
Fay is set to continue weakening today due to a hostile environment with high wind shear. The storm is expected to transition to a remnant low in the next several days.
Tropical Storm Fay nearly became the first hurricane of the season, but sustained winds only peaked at 70 mph. Sustained winds need to reach 74 mph or greater for a storm to be classified as a hurricane.
