It seems like after talking with fellow students and college alumni, one of their biggest regrets has been not participating in the study abroad experience. They gave a variety of reasons for their regret, including the chance to travel the world, explore unfamiliar cultures and learn a new language. It is an experience people talk about long after it is over.
Before going abroad, students can face a long process. There are pages upon pages of paperwork, a complex visa process and expensive application fees. However, for many students, this hasn’t been the most difficult part of a long but well-worth-it process. The most stressful, strenuous part was finding replacement housing while abroad, which has proven nearly impossible.
Apartments around the Columbia area are filled with college students, with new apartments being built every year to accommodate the influx of new admissions. Many of these apartments are marketed to the college students who attend the University of South Carolina.
