[Someone] from our Keep Crocker Real alliance has photographed the remnants of two huge and healthy trees at Crocker Amazon Park. A Monterey pine on August 31 (tree #507) and an unnumbered eucalyptus this Tuesday.
In a public record request for work orders submitted to the Urban Forestry division within Rec Park I found an open work order submitted in January 2025. It’s for ongoing tree removal. It might be the work order that covers the cut trees that were photographed. Rec Park has also been removing trees around the upper dog play area/community garden. I don’t have photos of those, but if any of you do, please send them.
One of our allies who goes by the name For the Future compared the 2021 and 2026 arborist reports and counted 26 trees that were cut down in the years between the two surveys. Now there are at least two more.
The more they cut down now, the fewer they get to say have to be removed due to the artificial turf baseball fields…
