A 50-year-old rideshare driver was booked into San Diego County Jail on suspicion of felony sexual battery after a 21-year-old passenger told investigators he touched her inappropriately and sexually assaulted her during a ride along State Route 78 in San Marcos. The California Highway Patrol’s Oceanside Area office says the alleged incident happened around 2 a.m. on September 17, when the woman was riding in a silver 2022 Honda Accord westbound on State Route 78 near the Twin Oaks Valley Road off-ramp in San Marcos, according to officials cited by 10News. That stretch of freeway serves as a major east-west corridor linking Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido, according to the California Transportation Commission. How Investigators Tracked Down the Driver
After the woman reported the assault, CHP’s Oceanside Area office opened an investigation and brought in detectives from the CHP Border Division Major Crimes Unit, who identified and located the driver. Reyes worked as a rideshare driver, and CHP officials say he was arrested in connection with the alleged incident. The station’s report does not indicate which rideshare company employed him.
