Weather permitting, Saturday night should mark the last of three overnight closings of the Ohio Turnpike’s westbound lanes for bridge work at the Maumee River.
While traffic normally uses the eastbound left shoulder and left lane while the bridge’s westbound half is redecked, concrete pours for the new deck require a detour to prevent vibrations that would damage those pours.
It’s not a big deal for most drivers from Toledo because the best routes east or west from the city don’t cross that bridge. But motorists who enter the toll road in Wood County or farther east will be detoured and should plan ahead to avoid unnecessary mileage…
