GUADALUPE COUNTY, N.M. — Police arrested a man for allegedly stealing a truck at a gas station just off of I-40 and shooting his ex-girlfriend Saturday.
Sometime after 11:10 a.m., 22-year-old Riel Gonzales allegedly stole a red work truck from the Phillips 66 Milagro gas station while the driver was pumping gas. It happened after his ex-girlfriend left him at the gas station – between Clines Corners and Santa Rosa – and drove to a home.
The woman’s mother picked her up and encountered Gonzales on NM-119 while leaving the area. At some point, shots were fired and the vehicles collided. Then, Gonzales allegedly opened fire on the mother’s boyfriend, who allegedly returned fire on him…
