In a tragic case out of California, 8-year-old Isaiah H. was discovered deceased inside a freezer located in a bedroom closet. New information has come to light regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
Isaiah’s parents, Destiny Harrison and Daniel Monzon, along with his paternal grandmother, Ana Zarceno, are accused of torturing and ultimately killing the boy. Witnesses testified that after Isaiah’s death, the family wrapped his body in plastic wrap and stored it in a cooler filled with ice, later placing it in a freezer.
The three appeared last week at a Compton court for the preliminary hearing in the murder case. Autopsy photos presented during the hearing revealed extensive bruising and scars on Isaiah’s body. Authorities also found chains and ropes in the family’s apartment, supporting allegations of prolonged abuse.
According to the criminal complaint, Isaiah endured mistreatment over an extended period before succumbing to his injuries on October 24, 2025. His body was discovered four days later.
A close friend of the father testified that he was summoned to the home in October and was initially told Isaiah was sick. He later learned that the mother had physically struck the boy, causing him to fall and injure his head. The friend described how the family was fearful of calling emergency services.
The grandmother reportedly informed the witness of Isaiah’s death and disclosed that she and Destiny had wrapped the boy’s body in plastic wrap and purchased a freezer to store it. The witness confirmed seeing Isaiah’s body inside the freezer and said the family asked for his assistance in disposing of it.
Additional testimony from the boy’s aunt painted a picture of Isaiah as a mischievous child who would sneak food at night. Concerns had been raised about his weight, which was reportedly around 200 pounds at one point. However, evidence suggests the family starved him, as Isaiah weighed only 65 pounds when his body was found.
Dr. Claudia Wong, a UCLA pediatrician and child abuse expert, reviewed photos of Isaiah before his weight loss and remarked, “I can’t recognize him in this picture.”
Witnesses also stated that Isaiah was seldom seen in public during his weight loss period and was reportedly chained to furniture inside the home.
If convicted, the three accused face sentences ranging from 32 years to life in state prison as the case proceeds.
