Bryan Seaver, nephew of the late Dolly Parton, has reportedly been dismissed from his role overseeing security at the singer’s properties.
On September 16, Seaver received a termination notice that also affected his security company, leading to their immediate removal from all of Parton’s estates. New security personnel have since been installed at her primary Nashville residence, as well as at her museum, secondary home, and warehouse.
Seaver was the one to announce Parton’s passing on social media on August 25. Following this, he expressed disappointment to TMZ regarding the sudden and unexplained actions taken by Parton’s manager, Danny Nozell, and Pinnacle Bank.
He and his team described themselves as “dismayed” but remain committed to honoring Parton’s final wishes to protect her family. They also criticized what they perceive as actions motivated by bad faith and profit at the expense of Parton’s legacy.
Though Seaver’s employment has ended, the termination letter confirmed that his “personal interest in the trust remains intact.” The properties and businesses are managed under the DP Dean Trust, named after Dolly and her late husband, Carl Dean. Prior to her death, Parton had transferred ownership of her $10 million Tennessee compound to this trust.
Carl Dean, who passed away on March 3, 2025, left his estate to Dolly, with instructions that should she predecease him, their assets be divided equally among their nieces and nephews. The couple had shared nearly 60 years of marriage.
Seaver, who served as Parton’s head of security for over 20 years – a role previously held by his father – shared a heartfelt message following her death. He reflected on the honor and sadness of the moment, expressing gratitude for the opportunities Parton created for their family. He also affirmed the dedication of those entrusted with preserving her legacy.
Representatives for Dolly Parton’s estate have yet to comment on these developments. Meanwhile, additional details about the singer’s final wishes, including her unique burial plans, have recently come to light.
