TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— According to the Federal Trade Commission, U.S. consumers lost about 212 million dollars in scams paid with gift cards last year!
Much of that money was stolen from our senior citizens. Local police reached out to WTWO’s Patrece Dayton to get the word out about another financial fraud.
Indiana seniors reported $81.5 million in elder fraud losses last year, but that’s just what was reported. Local police will tell you most seniors don’t report their losses because they’re embarrassed. But shame aside, it’s a topic that needs to be discussed and a real problem in the Wabash Valley…
