$17M grant helps fight veteran homelessness in South Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development estimates that on any given night, over 30,000 United States veterans experience homelessness.

Last week, the Department of Veterans Affairs awarded $17 million in grants to community organizations to help veterans who are at risk or experience homelessness in South Carolina. The recent funding, awarded to two local organizations, is part of both a state and national push to help reduce that number.
