Cleveland has a decades-old ban on fire pits, but that could change soon

Few things are more associated with chilly fall nights than sitting by a firepit. And on the eve of autumn, a Cleveland council member will start a push to make that tradition legal.

Councilmember Charles Slife will introduce legislation Monday night that ends the prohibition of recreational fires in Cleveland. And if you didn’t know having a bonfire was illegal in the city, that’s part of the point.
