ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) – The driver of a log truck was killed Monday afternoon when his vehicle veered off the road, hit a pickup truck, then crashed into a power pole and a tree before overturning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened about 3:44 p.m. on U.S. Highway 29 just south of North Barth Road, according to the FHP. The rig was northbound on U.S. 29 when it traveled northwest off the road and into the grassy median, authorities said. The rig crossed the southbound lanes of the highway, hitting the southbound pickup truck before careening into a ditch off the west shoulder of the road, striking a power pole and a tree and overturning onto its side, troopers said.
The 66-year-old Milton, Florida, man was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Authorities did not release the victim’s name…
