ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) — Cathy Stanley has used the same phone service for 66 years. She said she has always been able to rely on her landline.
Stanley is one of hundreds of Virginia households who received a letter from Verizon this summer stating the company is retiring its copper lines effective Oct. 23. For many customers, that means potentially losing their landline. For Stanley, the copper wire is also her only connection to the internet.
“It’s our internet that we can’t live without,” Stanley said.
