HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County crews will spray insecticide from the air over parts of East Lake and Palm River overnight, starting Monday, Sept. 21, to curb adult mosquito numbers following local detections of dengue fever virus.
Mosquito Management Services plans to carry out the operation between 7:30 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22. A helicopter flying at an altitude of 150 feet will release Dibrom insecticide at an application rate of 0.66 ounces per acre.
The targeted treatment zone falls within four specific boundaries: Harney Road to the north, South Falkenburg Road to the south, Interstate 75 and U.S. Highway 301 to the east, and 43rd Street and Hillsborough Bay to the west.
