AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The City of Amarillo reported an “unauthorized discharge” of approximately 200,000 gallons of untreated wastewater at Life Station 40, located at 7100 Cliffside Rd., had been contained as of Monday morning.
According to City of Amarillo officials, the wastewater spill started at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday and was considered contained at 3:15 p.m. The cause of the spill was a “pump malfunction,” according to the city, which caused the lift station to overflow from the manhole.

“Remediation and disinfection of land surface areas is complete,” said officials. The city further noted wastewater did not reach any natural waterways.
