DES MOINES, Iowa — Gas prices are climbing quickly across Iowa, with Des Moines drivers paying about 19 cents more per gallon than a week ago and diesel prices rising even faster. It can also make a big difference where you fill up, with almost a dollar range between the highest and lowest here in Iowa.
The average price for regular gasoline in Des Moines reached $4.32 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 234 stations. That’s an increase of 19.3 cents in a week and 21.5 cents from a month ago.
The difference from last year is much larger. Des Moines gasoline is now $1.44 per gallon more expensive than a year ago, when the metro average was $2.88.
