Marrero man who shot, killed sheriff’s deputy brother on Thanksgiving ruled incompetent for trial

A Marrero man accused of gunning down his brother during an argument on Thanksgiving has been found not mentally competent enough to stand trial, Jefferson Parish court records said.

Darius Guerin, 32, was committed into the custody of the Louisiana Department of Health after Judge Donald Foret of the 24th Judicial District Court determined he lacked the mental capacity to understand the proceedings against him or assist in his defense.
