Parents of students enrolled at the 16 North East Independent School Districtelementary campuses that met the district’s closure criteria received letters last week from their principals, detailing whether their campuses could close.
Superintendent Anthony Jarrett announced last Wednesday that district officials would bringa plan to close up to four of the 16 campuses to trustees before the end of 2026. The closures will be just one part of a broader efficiency plan to boost enrollment and reduce unused space.
