CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland’s drinking water system has an early-warning network sitting miles offshore in Lake Erie — four buoys that can buy treatment crews up to eight hours to prepare for trouble.
Legislation before Cleveland City Council Monday would continue the city’s partnership with the Cleveland Water Alliance, which supplies the water-quality equipment and deploys, maintains and retrieves data from the four buoys. The agreement, worth up to $1.2 million, would run from 2027 through 2030.
The measure has cleared council’s Utilities Committee and its Finance, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and is expected to pass at Monday night’s City Council meeting…
