High wildfire danger prompts Govenor to seek help from five states

More than 500 wildfires have burned across Arkansas since the beginning of August as prolonged drought and worsening weather conditions continue to create high wildfire danger statewide.

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture says those fires have affected more than 11,000 acres since Aug. 1. Since the beginning of the year, the department has responded to 1,457 wildfires affecting more than 37,000 acres…
