SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — As the renovations of the Salt Lake Temple are in its final stages, we’re taking a closer look at the craftsmanship that helps define this historic landmark.
Among its most striking features are the stained glass windows, admired for their beauty and rich symbolism.
Willet Studios, a Pennsylvania based company, helped restore the intricate glasswork. ABC4’s Emily Clark spoke with Kathy Jordan, Creative Director and Michael Mills, Willet Studio owner on ‘Faith in Focus: Utah’.
“I know when the project actually came to the studio, I understood almost immediately that it wasn’t a project or a job that one person could take on, that it would really require extraordinary effort, sacrifice, growth for a team,” Jordan said. “It will go down as an iconic project for the studio and for the team.”
Historic Tiffany Stained Glass windows
According to Stained Glass Salt Lake City, there are over 40 stained glass windows in the Salt Lake Temple. The stained glass windows in the temple’s celestial room were crafted by Tiffany and Company, landmarked since 1893.
“Some of the direction we were given as that Temple Square should be a place where we invite people to learn more about Jesus Christ. And these windows, we believe, are stunning and amazing pieces of artwork, but we hope that the artwork inspires people to want to learn more about Jesus,” Mills said…
