The shelter site by Westmoreland Park in Eugene is set to close by the end of October as its operator, Community Supported Shelters (CSS), consolidates its shelter operations.
The closure of the 20-unit site has been underway for weeks, according to a Sept. 18 press release. Residents are being relocated to other shelter communities operated by CSS, with some residents expected to move into permanent housing.
Heather Quaas-Annsa, co-executive director of CSS, said the process occurring at the Westmoreland site is a “thoughtful transition, not simply the closure of a shelter.”…
