RENO, Nev. — The fight over a proposed dog park at Damonte Ranch Park is now headed to court, as a resident and other community members have filed a lawsuit seeking to halt construction while questions about the project are addressed.
Damonte Ranch residents are seeking a temporary restraining order and an injunction to stop construction while they seek answers about how the project was approved and whether all required review steps were followed. The lawsuit also seeks records related to public outreach, community feedback and how the location was selected.
Jeff Hurlbert, a Damonte Ranch homeowner, said neighbors did not learn about the dog park until construction was already underway.
“The first time we learned that there was a dog park going in was after some of these folks were already going into the ground. None of us heard anything about what was happening until the construction started,” Hurlbert said…
