J. Cole Finally Launches The Indie 5000: His First Sneaker After PUMA Was Built Fully Independently

J. Cole is finally bringing one of his longest-running creative projects to the public, and this time he is doing it without a major sneaker company behind him.

The rapper announced Tuesday that his Indie 5000 sneaker will officially become available Wednesday,September 23, beginning in Fayetteville, North Carolina. In an Instagram announcement, Cole revealed that the shoe took five years to complete and emphasized that every stage of the project was handled independently.

“5 years in the making. Took my time to make sure I did it right. Designed, developed, and manufactured independently. INDIE 5000 available tomorrow in Fayetteville, NC. @dreamer,” Cole wrote, tagging the Dreamer Instagram account.

While Fayetteville will receive the first drop, pricing, full technical specifications, and details about a broader release have not been announced.
