FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A water company offering utilities in southwest Fort Wayne has filed new paperwork that may increase the proposed rate hikes even more.
The new motion submitted to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission on September 16, Aqua Indiana says there were errors in their original proposal; instead of a 32.6 percent rate increase, they’re now projected to go up 40.7 percent, meaning customers could be paying about $10 more per month.
Aqua Indiana provides sewer service to roughly 14,000 customers in southwest Fort Wayne and Allen County. Fort Wayne City Utilities filed a petition in June against Aqua Indiana’s application that would increase sewer rates for thousands of Allen County residents, which was later accepted by the IURC, allowing City Utilities to dig deeper into the proposal…
