‘Something I never imagined’: Mother struck, killed by semi while walking through truck stop parking lot with family

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A mother of a young child was walking through the Baldwin Love’s Travel Stop parking lot with her child and husband on Sept. 15 when she was struck and killed by a semi-truck, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. at the truck stop near U.S. 301 and Interstate 10 — two weeks before the couple’s son was set to turn 3.

JSO said the semi-truck driver was making a turn and did not see Estefany Hernandez, who was identified in a GoFundMe. She died at the scene. The driver was cooperating with the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office…
