A century-old Chicago ice cream shop is heading to the Magic City.
The Original Rainbow Cone, which is known for its signature five-flavor ice cream cone stacked vertically, will be opening up its first shop in Palmetto Bay’s Kings Bay Shopping Center in Miami on Monday, Sept. 28, according to its website and the Miami New Times.
The shop is opening thanks to Sara and Jason DePalma, longtime Original Rainbow Cone fans who are bringing the beloved brand to the city, according to the Miami New Times. For the couple, Original Rainbow Cone is more than just an ice cream shop — it’s tied to some of their favorite memories from their 20 years in Chicago.
“Rainbow Cone was simply part of life for us,” Sara DePalma told the outlet. “We spent about 20 years in Chicago, and it was one of those places woven into summers, celebrations, and everyday moments with family and friends. Some of our earliest dates were going out for ice cream, so there’s a personal connection to it for us, too.”…
