MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The first day of fall is finally here, but you wouldn’t know it purely by looking at the forecast. Hot and humid conditions continue to stick around with a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms through the middle of the week, but changes are on the way from there.
Today looks no different from a fairly typical summer afternoon for us across the Deep South. It’s still hot and humid with highs in the lower to middle 90s and heat indices coming within a couple of degrees of 100°, and we’ll still see a round of pop-up showers and thunderstorms scattered across a decent portion of the region later this afternoon. Most of the rain that develops is gone by the evening, then we’ll start to see some of the first very small changes to our conditions roll into the region tonight and into Wednesday.
