YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) – Heavy rain starting to fall across parts of the Hampton Roads region Tuesday, including in York County. A WAVY viewer captured several images of the flooding at York High School. A couple of the images show a vehicle tilted forward, with the front end under water.
The school is located at 9300 George Washington Memorial Hwy.
WAVY spoke with a spokesperson for York County Schools, who confirmed the flooding occurred around 2 p.m. She explained that the vehicle did not fall into a sinkhole. There is a ditch between the parking lanes. Because the rain came down so fast, the driver apparently was unable to see the ditch and drove into it.
She said there have been no reports of injuries…
