Block knocks Foulkes over donations above state’s legal limit

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Independent gubernatorial candidate Ken Block criticized Democratic rival Helena Foulkes on Tuesday after her campaign acknowledged accepting several donations higher than the state’s $2,000 statutory limit.

Angelika Pellegrino, a spokesperson for Foulkes, confirmed that the R.I. Board of Elections contacted the campaign Monday “to let us know of some contributions that need to be corrected in previous campaign finance filings.”

“Those contributions involve donors who share the same name, contributions from married couples, and refunds that have either already been issued or will be issued shortly,” she said…
