A bit of reprieve may be on the horizon as unseasonably hot temperatures continue into fall.
The National Weather Service’s Austin and San Antonio office outlined the possibility of isolated low- to medium-level showers and storms on Tuesday, September 22, for portions of the Lone Star State. While severe weather is highly unlikely, atmospheric conditions in Central Texas could support some slow-moving storms across the region, according to the agency’s area forecast discussion.

Those potential storms would likely remain isolated and not be widespread across Central Texas, NWS noted, adding they could drop one to two inches of rain, should the storms materialize. There will be a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. in Austin, with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. in San Antonio.
