For more than 30 years, Backyard Grill & Bar, 6473 N. Second St., in Loves Park, Ill., has attracted loyal customers with a bounty of classics and a deliciously diverse menu. Three years ago, the family-friendly restaurant started a new chapter when Rob Bennick and his wife, Chrystal Ann, took ownership. Their passion for preserving the classics while adding new favorites continues the legacy at this beloved gathering place.
“We are so happy that our customers continue to support us as their local place to enjoy a meal, savor a drink, have fun and build community,” says Rob Bennick. “Our staff has been here for a very long time, and they truly care about making every customer feel comfortable.”
With daily specials all week, one could easily enjoy a different meal every day – steaks one day, followed by prime rib, seafood or chicken wings. Bennick is proud of the buzz he hears about Backyard’s menu.
“Our Schmidty’s wings have been voted as the best wings in the area’s annual 2025 What Rocks Community Choice Awards,” says Bennick. “Our burgers and fish fry are favorites, too.”
