COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A temporary curfew for unsupervised minors in downtown Columbus could become permanent.
The Columbus City Council is considering an ordinance that would remove the September 30 sunset date on the current curfew, which prohibits anyone under 18 from being in Uptown without an authorized adult between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
During Tuesday’s meeting, police said the curfew has helped reduce late-night problems in the area. Sergeant Sherman Hayes told council members no juveniles have been charged under the ordinance, while four parents have been cited for situations involving their children after curfew…
